i'm also rebuilding his accesoiries so it resembles the g1 style

here some pics of the trailblazer project, ignore the pruple i only did the bodywork atm,

the full body is diecast metal the rest is plastic, i spraypainted him nato black from tamiya colors





btw, did you paint the trailer or do you stil have to do it dez?

cuzz i think you'd be better of spraying the whole thing and then mask out the lines so it would look semi pro

Make your own evil jetfire in a couple of steps,


step1;

get a jetfire classics toy (obviously)



step2;

remove all his accesories , Thrusters,launchers and guns,

step3:

click the canopy off

step4;

remove the nose cone by loosening the two screws and click the two halves out



step5;

remove the rear canopy part it also is clicked in, so that won't cause any trouble..



step6;

Personally i removed the front section for easyer work but you do not need too, it is done by removing the pin with a driver and hammer, and i removed the head wich also is just snapped on with a ball joint



step7;

remove the rear wings panel by twisting it of it's joint, it just snaps out no biggies there



step8;

removing legs so you're able to handle the torso with more ease when painting and preparing them to paint the inner red grills,
it is done by removing the two screws pointed out in the pic, do take care the lower halves are spring loaded so pay attention not letting them jump out




step9;

open the leg halves by removing the four screws ,pop them open and pull them out,
do beware that sometimes it needs some force to split the halves open and look out for parts flying out from the feet

the red circled part is what you'll be needing to paint



step10;

prepare all parts with masking tape and paint the red areas ,we need to cover all the red with a con purple colour, i've used tamiya model paint code X16 and some carbody paper tape
*edit : behold of tamiya paints they are verry runny so use some enamel from revell or Humbrol,

Tamiya paints blend underneath the masking tape so Beware!

as for ease of those wanting to make their own i painted the purple by hand, as for the thrusters ,they will get sprayed with my airbrush gun






step11;

remove the masking tape and work on painting flaws, (in my case a lot but i managed to save it)

this is what we got now when all is back assembled, stay tuned in the next instalment where we'll do the thrusters and the fronts of the launchers

Outstanding, Kup! I'm gonna put that on my "to do" customizing list. Excellent guide. I think I may paint it so all the original white is black or dark gray, and all the red purple.

update on jetfire,

if the edges of the purple paint aren't perfect take a small liner and a black paint marker an trace the purple down, it really looks sharp now
