At least you have thrift shops and garage sales. There're no such events or sales here in manhattan. The last time I found any TF for a good deal locally is a $5 G1 snarl in a newspaper shop about 15 years ago.

Alright here is something that I have recently acquired but will probably let go of in a few weeks/months (meaning, once the economy gets better)

MISB Japanese Headmaster Kirk

Image

He is 1 of 6 headmaster figures released only in japan. The idea was, if you lost the headmaster for one of your regular figures (i.e., you lost the headmaster for mindwipe), you can go to the toy shop and buy new "replacement heads" to use instead. When you put them on the figure, and then you checked the power stats on the meter, they were all bumped up to high levels.

Anyway these guys command high prices, and the only reason why i picked him up (i don't collect MISB) is because i got him for the price of a loose figure. One of these loose is as expensive as a complete Overlord. The damn thing is even in a sealed plastic bag and I don't even know if that's how it was 20 years ago or someone put it on there. Anyway, he will be promptly sold once the economy is up and running again, with the proceeds to be reinvested in something else.

Very nice. If you find one loose how do you tell if its the original or the jp, assuming you have only the head? Which is more valuable?

The very simple answer to that question is that they were only released in japan...these headmasters are VERY different and won't be difficult to tell apart from the U.S. headmasters. For example, 2 of the headmasters from this group transform into animals, not people, when you transform them from head-mode.

Here is a link that shows what i am talking about

http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/conten ... /Kirk.html

Individually, they are quite expensive. if you search feeBay for "Kirk" or "Trizor" under the transformers category you get an idea of both what the figures are, and how ridiculously priced they are, given their diminutive size.

Then thats a VERY nice find. I always grab headmasters when I see them, but I've never seen or heard of those before. The rarest thing I ever found was a brainmaster, but it didn't have arms.

Even with them transformers are hard to find. I only once found more than 2 transformers at 1 place. And I can go to 20 without finding anything. Fleemarkets or subdivision sales are the best bet.

All I can tell you is that it is a Knock Off. From the looks of the pic it will be very fragile if you open it.

I can't believe I thought Cassettes were the way of the future.

Is +1 on Kups list.

Rumble, you are correct. I broke mine almost immediately (several of the bots in several pieces) - also the stickers are pretty much non-adhesive. FlatoutBu if you plan on opening them just be gentle with it put them how you want to display it and let it be.

Computron, great find! I would like to get him some day but he is out of my current $$$ range right now.

I just recently bought Universe Galvatron, Tankor, Starscream, Ramjet, & Ironhide. I like all of them. But, Ironhide looks like crap in vehicle mode & in robot mode his head isn't at the proper level.

keep a sharp eye out Ratchet. As I said the Megs I won was my brother's auction. He recently got it off craig's list for $20. I'm sure that that is not out of anyone's price range. That is the way to go. Putting ads in your local paper garage/yard sales, and craigs list are where the real good deals are found. It's the looking part that takes a long time.

I'm finding it absolutely hilarious that you had to buy this from YOUR BROTHER off of Ebay!

I have that KO. it's cheap and fragile, the "Airraid" figure broke within minutes. The Head to Superion WILL NOT attach to "Silverbolts" head... it sorta gives it a bobble head affect...

I also have the Defensor for that brand that is made a little better.

Anyways to my additions: My Rid Prowl and Skybyte came in from here along with Armada Sideswipe(i liked the way he looked in the show but the mold was a serious dissapointment)

From the new ROTF figures at my walmart i picked up: Skids, Deadend, Sideways, and Soundwave. I agree with what many have been saying about Soundwave only being good for display in robot mode. I just like the bio for Deadend, he's a little creepy creep! lol
Don't like Skids he's UGLY!

Sideways was actually a misunderstanding: I was in a hurry and misread the box... thought I grabbed Sideswipe. Ended up being my favorite of the four I got though.

Also got G1 Hardhead(his body at least) from Minerva. now I just need to trackdown a head and cannon for him.
All that was needed is a catalyst... and the machines of war are set in motion.
