The rust really is the only draw back.

I may re-add him to my christmas list in that case..... I removed him when I heard about the rust but would still really like one.

Has anyone in the UK experienced problems importing them? I've heard tales of seized packages as the contents look like a gun. I think someone also mentioned an orange cap screwed into the end of some to solve the problem, but ruining the product..... can anyone describe any experience like that? Doesn't seem to be many available in the UK....

I have one. It wasn't seized or any of that nonsense but there is indeed an orange cap in the top of it, on the gun barrel at his shoulder.

I thought that was just America, the orange caps. Do your re-issue seekers have goofy missiles, too?

what does the orange cap actually do then? Is it removable? Does it "ruin" the toy in anyway by piercing a vital surface of it?

It's to stop it looking like a real gun. Helpfully the takara reissue has not been altered in this way. All the encore mges [if they relased them in the UL] will have them in where the true G1 won't have it.

I decided to finally put away my UM masterpiece..... took some good pics of him before I did though.... I can already see a tiny bit of yellowing on the white plastic versus the white of the metal chest doors, so I think he'll stay away now. Here's the pics;

Well, he's definitely away now for good.... I've got two more TFs that I'm considering putting away, as one is almost white (the Emperor star wars TF) and the other is the yellow binaltech Tracks I have. His head and missile silos are white, and I'm concerned about them discolouring....

Mind you, I no longer smoke, so this should help.... I just don't want to risk ruining TFs with white turning that horrible yellow colour

I had my MP Megatron imported into the UK from Hong Kong, and it all went very smoothly (bar postal strike). Not sure if customs would sieze him due to the fact that he is boxed in robot mode. Mine doesn't have an orange cap on it, I believe these are mainly for the US market where the law states that all toy guns must have a brightly coloured cap so they can be distinguished from the real thing. Although most kids toy guns here will have a red/orange cap on them for this reason.

I don't know if someone already mentioned but the mp megs with the orange cap is called a modified version and without the cap is called an unmodified version, so if you are looking you know which is which.

I just picked up the unmodified version for $100.

Wanted to resurrect this thread, as I saw this that looked very interesting, if rather crass and overdone by e-hobby (6 re-colours.... ouch!) though a glow in the dark ghost MP starscream, now who isn't gonna want one of those!?
