Just tell your employer that a cow kicked you and you have an egg butty the size of a dust bin lid on your head from the blow and you've also found out you're going to have jelly babies (those delicious currant flavored ones) and you'll need some maternity leave too.

You're bound to get some leave for that!

I would probably get a visit from the men in white coats and a nice padded cell to sit in if I said something like that ..............

Seriously though, the boss always takes his holidays the middle two weeks in August and it would not be fair of me to try to get the weekend off as that would mean that Wendy ( the other vet in our practice ) would have to cope on her own from Friday night untill Monday morning and that is not fair to her.

Sadly, it is not just so simple. If Wendy gets in to some sort of difficulty with an animal she would be on her own and sometimes it needs two to do these kind of jobs.
