Man! I thought that would be harder! It's original. Inside his "cockpit" it says Hasbro Takara 1980, 1983, etc. Do you want to see the face? He does have a variant gun.
Edit: as for dates on re-issues, my Ultra Magnus re-issue doesn't say 200X on the markings like the seekers do. The cab is in too good of shape to be original. Can someone check their UM re-issue just to confirm?

To know others you must know yourself first!

It may take me a while to think of a good challenge, so if someone else has a suitable picture, is fine. I will post one later.
Kyle, your picture actually taught me something new on Shrapnel, as I didn't know that variation. I have just noticed that mine doesn't just have a different rear of the head, but also both antennae have different mold injection points. This difference doesn't appear in Fred's Workshop site, so it's a great discovery in my opinion and I will have to go through my friends' Insecticons! I could recognize the whole contour and the back pattern, but it's very different... I now have to figure out which is earlier.
Regarding the jets copy stamps, there's a Thundercracker all blank which is a "transitional" piece. I have seen this variation twice. It's original too, so believe first in your gut rather than your eyes.
