[quote="Delita-1"]Really? Huh, they were both PG13 here. At least that's what it says on the DVD's. She just turned 8, so maybe not. Thanks.
I know this maybe late but i am up bored and reading up on other posts so if you haven't already taken your daughter to the movie you probably could. I am really strict and all my children including my 5 and 3 year old saw it (in the drive in). If she has nightmares easily i would say maybe not, but there really is nothing that most kids can't handle and my kids loved it. In fact my three year old girl wants to be spiderman when she grows up now (yeah really- not a princess, spiderman!)
It was a great movie and even though there were two parts where my girls screeched a second they laughed two minutes later and were perfectly fine, excited and smiling, as we left.

Fantastic 4: The Rise of the Silver Surfer.
****SPOILER ALERT: in the text below I reveal one really weak joke that is not central to the plot.*****
Pretty crappy.
The mincons loved it, but it had people with super-powers, so they really get immersed easily. So, if you are under 10, put it on your must see list.
The plot was pretty predictable, even if you don't know comics. They put in a bit of a different ending than the first appearance of Surfer and Galactus, but you will be able to figure out exactly what is going to happen at about the 40 minute mark. The comedy was also played up a bit in this one, so you will get a few laughs, but there are quite a few product placements as well to work your way through.
*Here is the Spoiler*
This becomes pretty evident when Johnny Storm sees the Dodge logo on the Fantasticar, he asks Reed if it has a Hemi, Reed replies in a manner that makes Johnny seem silly for even having to ask.... In fact, Johnny is a bit slow on the uptake in this scene, as the trademark Ram is embroidered in red on the seats so large that you could see it was a dodge a mile away, you didn't need to wait for the hood ornament.
*End Spoiler*
The only thing I found to be really central to the spirit of the Fantastic 4 comic, is that once again, the team is on the verge of breaking up, exactly like every 4th issue of the comic.
My advice on this one? Skip the DvD, wait for cable TV.

Yeah, I agree--it was predictable enough and rather lame at certain points. But I don't judge Fantastic Four on the same scale that I would judge other Marvel movies like Spider-Man or X-Men. It was never meant as some sort of serious blockbuster for the mature movie-goer, but rather a family film. And as a family film, I think they did a good job with it. It's the popcorn flick you can take the kids to.
Didn't Galactus wicked remind you of Unicron? He did for me. The only thing I really enjoyed about the movie, though, was Silver Surfer. They did him very well.

TRANSFORMERS '07
I was surfing the web and posting here in the forums yersterday.
Then suddenly I found out that my local theatre was playing our movie on Tuesday July 2 @ 8:00 pm.
I quickly put on my Decepticon shirt and hat then sat in my reclyner for 2 hours and waited. I finally got to the theatre at 7:00 and waited for over an hour the the movie.
Me and my mini-con were numbers 11 & 12 to sit in the theatre.
It quickly filled afterwards.
I'm not going to give out any spoilers here but I will say that since I am a die hard fan for over 20 years, I freakin really really liked the movie.
Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about the movie was the simple fact that it wasn't G1.
But having seen the movie now, I can easily say a huge chapter in my life has been written and a new one begins... the sequel
True story...
Jurassic Park was one of the first CGI movies.
It was released in 1993. I was 18 y/o.
When I went to see it in the theatre, I thought to myself..
"If they got the technology to make giant lizards then they got the technology to make giant robots."
It was at thist moment in time that my countdown begun.
I started waiting since that time in 1993.
Over 14 years later my countdown stopped.
TRANSFORMERS.... go see it! I'm going to go see it more than once that's for sure!!

The offical listing for TF is 144 mins (2 hrs 24 mins).
As many of you know the offical release date for the movie in the UK is July 27th....or so it is meant to be. But I checked earlier and the main cinema in Belfast has preview showings daily from the 21st, so need less to say I booked tickets for the Commander and myself for the 21st at 8pm woohoo!! What makes it even better its the VIP screen, only about 40 seats maximum per screen and each seat is a leather recliner!! talk about watching in style. We are gonna head about 7pm to get the best seats in the house, lol.
Now the can't wait factor is kicking in big style!

Hello, to all. Commander Rodimus it is good to finally talk to you. I have been lurking for a little while. I am one of those that has made to trek to Gainsville to see The store. It was about a year ago. Great people. My lovely wife got us tickets for the July 2nd show. She's not a fan but went for me
. We got to the theater more then an hour before, there was already a long line. They qued us up and back down a long hall. Sat in the theater for about 45 minutes, lame previews came and went. Then started the geatest movie of all time!!! There will be no spoiling here but don't leave right away.
I've been rerading older posts and I want to tell you all that you are funny. I look forward to continuing to talk with you.
Seriously yours,
Computron

Hey Computron, and Welcome aboard. Make sure to stick around for a bit, and post something in the Billboard to let us know a bit about you.
Oh, and almost everything I say is tongue-in-cheek, so please don't ever take me too seriously. (and never ever say something that may be taken with double meaning in front of Galvatron.)
Ok, I am done de-railing the thread.

TRANSFORMERS (non-spoiler)
My life..... Is complete. As complete as it can be until the sequels. Almost 21 years ago, on the day i was born, TFtM opened. Many have been waiting ever since for the "real thing". It was worth the wait.
Seriously guys, I was vouching that it was going to be enjoyable this whole time.... It blew my expectations out of the water. I can't even begin. Just go see it. Just... go. now.

Just joking. I had to say something since you posted that last remark UM
Hey Computron, welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing your character in the RPG. Now do you split up into the 5 different Technobot characters, or are you only Computron?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.
Before I start, let me preface by saying that my entire family (including myself) are Harry Potter fans. I know that some of you are not, so just skip this review if you are one of those.
Ok, this in my opinion is possibly the best in the series to date. It sticks more closely to the book than any of the movies previous. There are a couple of small things missing from the book, but the book was 840 pages, so some streamlining had to be done. As opposed to some of the previous movies (especially the last two), the plot wasn't changed in an extreme manner to justify time, nor were scenes added for the sake of comedy. Visually it was stunning.
To be fair though, there was a teenage girl that obviously had not read the book, the said it was the worst yet in the series and it was horrid. Of course, this young lady also probably did not like The Empire Strikes Back either. This installment and book 6 are the darkest points in the series, which in any epic tale (not saying that Potter is monumental, just that it is a story that spans much growth, change, and time) must happen before final victory.
This movie includes a very 1984 (Orwellian, not the year) feel, has budding romance, and just enough comic touches to keep it from becoming too extremely dark. The ending is somewhat bittersweet, as there is a minor victory, but at a cost.
If your young one is extremely impressionable, I am going to say keep them away, until you have had a viewing to judge for yourself. If you are an adult that has thought of the series before now as kid's stuff, I would recommend a viewing (but you will need to do your homework and watch the previous movies to understand at all what is going on).
Major kudo's from me.
By the way, if you think I might just be a bit obsessed with the Potter thing, movies 3 and 4 got just as much of a thumbs down from me as Transformers did. (Book 4 is my favorite in the series and book 5 is my least favorite, so this would be saying something).
