NEED HELP!

Post by cdtrbone »

HELLO ALL! I am new on this site and found it as I was trying to identify the box of transformers I dug out of my basement. Since I am not familiar with many of these items, I have a few quick questions.

1. I have found years listed on some of my items and it says Japan along with 1980 & 1982 and some with 1980 & 1984 on them. I assume these are U.S. figures that were made in Japan. I am about 99% sure they are G1 since I had them when I was much younger. Is there a way I can tell the exact date?

2. If I am unable to find a label with a year, is there a specific spot to search?

3. Any other identifying info that could be shared would be great.

I am trying to sort all of these toys out and right now my head is spinning with all the different possibilities. THANKS!

Try out the identification system of the store first
Far over the Misty Mountains cold, To dungeons deep and caverns old. The pines were roaring on the height, The winds were moaning in the night, The fire was red, it flaming spread, The trees like torches blazed with light.

If the identifier does not work for you post some pictures and the community here will help.

The dates just represent when the moulds were created. The sedcond date is from when they were released as transformers, they are nothing to worry about.

To further ellaborate, what we know as the first year's release (and some after the first year as weel) was really an amalgam of mutiple seperate toy lines in Japan that had robots that turned into other things. For instance, as I am sure you know Jetfire is really from Battletech/Macros, and other Japanese lines that had them would be Microman and Revoltech. The first date on your TF would be the year it came out in the other line, the second would be the date it was chosen as a TF.
