Takara vs Hasbro

Post by Fade »

Hey there guys! I only just stumbled onto this web area, and i think what you are running here is awesome.

First of all, i would like to know the going opinions of the latest releases. The ones i am talking about are the 'Alternators' i think.

Now, looking on ebay, i found that there was a distinct price difference between the hasbro and Takara versions especially for the "Binaltech" series of TFS. I am getting the four units (BT-01 --> BT-04) for my b'day/tax return, because i thought they looked incredibly awesome, and being die-cast that appealed even more. (from what i understand, the hasbro ones are all plastic?)

So would you, if the choice was availble, pruchase the hasbro or takara versions of the re-issue?

Thanks in advance!

I think you might have answered your own question when you said that Takara are more expensive, yet they're of better quality due to the die-castness. It all depends on how much you'd like a big chunk of metal on your shelf. Personally, I'm going for Hasbro - I'm not exactly rolling in dough, and they're alternators, so in other words I'd rather spend the big bucks on G1 figures.

Oh, and yeah - welcome to the boards, Fade! Not that I've been here too long either. :)

welcome to both of you! if i could afford it, i would certainly go with the takara binaltech series. if you read around, i really have a problem with the way stateside distro cheapens stuff up before we get it, so not only is the good stuff more expensive, but we have to pay nasty import costs. check out the alternators and masterpiece prime threads in classics. and swing into user info, too!

Actually, I prefer the Hasbro Alternators over teh Takara Bi series. I have heard many problems with the JP Die Cast models beign able to stand because of the ever weight the Metal gives, while my Plastic Hasbro ones that look just fine, stand with no problem. I pretty sure it was Hound, if you get the JP Dieccast of him, and you have him in Robot Form, he has a big tendency to fall foward due to basically almsot half theo body, being in the front upper torso of him. I woudl get the Diecast, only if its not in the US.
