Well.... Reissues have the same origin, and I sadly see coming a horde of KO releases of the full lineups.

i've been waiting for a sunstreaker re-issue. this is a knock off? who's making this one? is there an easy way to tell it's a ko by the box? and is there a legitimate sunstreaker reissue in the works?

It's being knocked off by the same guys that make all the knockoffs, a company called Zhong Jin out of China.

Unless they fix it, the easiest way to tell is that at the bottom of the box, it will say "Ages. 5 & Up" Notice that's a PERIOD, not a colon.

A legitimate sunstreaker reissue is unlikely.

(Really... the genuine articles aren't *that* expensive. Just buy original!)

that's tricky. i better keep my eye out for that period! i like the reissues mainly because of the nice, sealed box that i can display the figure in. it's been tough finding a boxed sunstreaker! is there any reason why there isn't a reissue yet?

I believe they claim that the mold is lost. And then they claim that it's not cost effective to re-tool the mold from an existing figure. And then they claim that it's not terribly profitable either.

All fairly dubious claims given the success of the KOs. Personally, I'm hoping they're just doing it to preserve the collectible value of their toys (and thus, bolster current sales purchased with the idea that they might too be collectible one day).

Sunstreaker's too handsome to spend eternity cooped up in plastic anyhow.
