City Commander questions
Hey fellow bots. I have been pondering buying the city commander set cause well, its just too full of awesomeness. The problem I have is why the heck is classics UM so friggin expensive? Its outrageous to pay nearly $60 usd for a loose one that has no accessories.
Another question, what parts from the classics figure show with the city commander armor on? I was thinking, if I were to buy a classics prime cause its cheaper, the armor should fit, I hope. If alot of the figure shows, I could customize it, but would rather not take the chance of getting paint in the armor set.
Any solutions? Pics available? Some pics taken around the figure would help out quite a bit too.
(By the way, I should be posting back to my old ways really soon once internet is hooked up at the new place. Thanks to all my fellow TFLers for all your help over the years, with hopefully many more to come!)

Some pics for you Dinobot:

Looks like the most noticable part is going to be the truck panels on the lower arms. The legs are also quite visible too, but I dont think that would look too bad with a Prime inside. Truck mode might look a bit odd, but if you want it for the super mode then thats not really a problem.

I can't believe I thought Cassettes were the way of the future.
Is +1 on Kups list.

Re: City Commander questions
I believe the price shot up about the time the City Commander Armors started being released. There's probably a few collectors that passed on Classics Magnus when he was released because he was just a repaint of the Classics Prime, and a few that bought more than one Magnus to display in normal and armored modes. There might be a few whacko collectors that have tried to get each release of the City Commander (not the Shadow Commander & DIA commander) and a Magnus to go with it. And I'm not aware of Classics Magnus being released in Japan, at least not part of the Henkei line.Dinobot wrote:Hey fellow bots. I wouldn't worry so much about the accessories if you're getting the City Commander set, they're just kibble in robot mode.
You might consider getting a Classic Optimus and painting him. He doesn't have to be perfect if you're putting him in the armor. I've painted parts of both my Classics Prime and Magnus, I just disassembled each bot and painted the parts with Krylon Fusion spray paint. It bonds with the plastic so you don't have to seal it or worry about chipping/flaking.

I finally had to bite the bullet and put in a preorder for one myself. I'm really glad I'm getting the missle launchers and the new gun.Dinobot wrote:Thanks for the help fellow bots. Looks like im gonna have a go at getting one.
I bet I'm not alone in wishing Fansproject would release the weapon sets that comes with the prime trailer as a stand alone set. And it would also be nice if they released non-chrome versions of them, for those of us that have the Classics/Universe releases and not the Henkeis.

Figured I'd post my Magnus with his new gear. I didn't feel like pulling him from the shelf and posing him so he gets to pose with prime and the others.
And thats a reprolables sticker on his shoulder but not the City Commander sticker set.

Also a scene I took inspired by our own Ultra Magnus' sig!

I shot this before I had the add on kit unfortunantly...

All that was needed is a catalyst... and the machines of war are set in motion.
