Hey, there is no reason to be ashamed about not knowing this. (Hell, I don't know it either, my old Shockwave was the Radio Shack one, as I prefered the grey to the purple). There are a couple around here that will though, and I am sure they will be along soon. I just wanted to warn you that it may be a couple of days though, as the boards have been hit by a dreaded vacation post drought. (In other words, everyone seems to be out of town and afk.)

Welcome to the forums, and feel free to browse around and make yourself comfortable, and even when your question is answered, hang out. :)

Not that I am aware of, the original version was the Hasbro version.

Shockwave wasn't available in Europe, I got mine from Matt about 6 months ago!!

Yeah, what the crap? Oh well, no more bogus post count for you. I kinda wonder what happened to the flood interval... Anyway, the Hasbro version is certainly not the original. AstroMagnum, sometimes referred to as "Galactic Man", or the nickname "Shackwave" as he was made by ToyCo and sold only through Radio Shack. You will note that the only major casting difference is the trigger, which had a more realistic shape on AstroMagnum, but lent itself to lewd jokes in robot mode. The shockwave trigger is more shaped like a rectangular plate.

To pour some salt on the wound...

Shockwave is not a Takara toy, but made by ToyCo, as Ben said, so basically any Shockwave which didn't come in the Hasbro packaging - that means, the Transformers box - is more likely a parallel figure, like a pre-Transformers. So, if it is ToyCo, it's authentic. There are knock offs though.

I have, by the way, both Shockwave and the Radio Shack issue. Both are made by ToyCo.

It's OK Megatron. But, what'd I tell you about that anger problem? I think you ought to take a page from the 'Bots, and learn to "chillax." Prime might have something left from that Foreigner concert he mentioned a while back.

Yes I know, but sometimes the "Megatron" in Mark does tend to boil to the surface now and again and when it does...... ask Rodimus he has seen it!
